New to Jewish Renewal?

You’re not alone in your searching…

Maybe you’ve been searching for a Jewish home where spirituality is lived, prayer feels real, and ancient wisdom speaks to life today.

At P’nai Or of West Hartford, we believe the soul longs for awakening, healing, and wholeness. Jewish Renewal draws on the Jewish mystical tradition to make that path accessible, alive, and transformative for seekers of many backgrounds.

What is Jewish Renewal?

Jewish Renewal is a contemporary movement that brings together Jewish mysticism, spiritual practice, and progressive values. It draws on Hasidism, Kabbalah, meditation, chant, and participatory prayer while engaging modern insights into consciousness, healing, and transformation.

It is less about going through the motions and more about direct experience: opening the heart, deepening awareness, and living Jewish practice in a way that transforms both self and world.

Jewish Renewal is for:

  • Jews who want more depth, mystery, and joy in their practice
  • Seekers exploring Jewish spirituality for the first time
  • People drawn to meditation, mindfulness, and inner work
  • Those seeking a community that honors both tradition and innovation
  • Anyone who wants their Judaism to heal them and serve the world

How We Walk This Path

At P’nai Or, we engage mind, body, and spirit—because awakening happens through the whole person.

In our gatherings you’ll experience:

  • Meditation and mindfulness rooted in Jewish mystical practice
  • Chanting and music that opens the heart and lifts the soul
  • Prayer as living encounter, not just recitation
  • Text study that connects ancient wisdom to contemporary life
  • Sacred circle where everyone participates, not just the leader
  • Earth-centered awareness and commitment to tikkun olam (healing the world)

We draw from:

  • Jewish Mysticism and Kabbalah—the inner dimensions of Torah
  • The emerging sciences of consciousness—how awareness itself transforms
  • Transformative psychologies—tools for healing, growth, and integration
  • The rise of the Divine Feminine (Shekhinah)— the feminine face of God
  • Our rootedness in the Earth—sacred ecology and seasonal awareness
  • Integral vision—a world becoming whole through conscious participation

And we’re committed to transforming inner awakening into outer action—healing ourselves, our communities, and our broken world through tikkun (repair).

A Movement Rooted in Something Deeper

P’nai Or is part of ALEPH: Alliance for Jewish Renewal, the global network of Jewish Renewal congregations, rabbis, teachers, and seekers. We’re grounded in the same vision that animates Jewish Renewal worldwide: awakening the soul, healing the world, and making Jewish spirituality alive and accessible for our time.

But here in West Hartford, you’ll find something even more intimate: a small congregation where you’re known by name, where your spiritual journey matters, and where mysticism meets real life.

Welcome home.
